I love Paul Smith shoes. I find the quality superb and the styling modern, yet classic enough to not look dated for years. These are the two pairs I picked up at 50% off.
First, the "Starr" brogues are from the Paul Smith Collection line and are very much like my navy shoes covered here. This collection is created by dip dying the upper, which super saturates the leather. Drum drying makes them extremely soft. They feel comfortable upon the first wearing. It is very difficult to capture photos of this supple black leather. This is my third pair from the Starr collection.
Second, the tassel loafers are part of the PS Paul Smith secondary line. I have been searching for a pair of tassel loafers for quite some time and either they have been too traditional or too fashion forward. I found these to be the perfect balance. I adore the color, as it is a neutral brown without the red undertones I tend to despise in browns. Tassel loafers can often seem too formal and I like the slightly waxed finish, which keeps them casual enough to pair with jeans.
Oh, I just couldn't resist the socks.

Sorry guys, I accidentally "rejected" all of your comments. I new this would happen eventually. Please resubmit!
I do normally wear loafers and shoes in general without socks during the Summer, unless it is cool or raining.
I have also tried on the tassel loafers at Bottega Veneta and I decided that the very round toe box was not for me.
Allan: I'm sure the canvas/leather shoes will go on sale.
I like both of them, especially the first one.
I have always liked wing tipped shoes; but I really like the loafers. They are perfectly elegant.
Thanks Donna. It's been raining all week, so I haven't had a chance to wear them yet!
