Speaking of Tom Ford's love of crocodile yesterday, I have always wanted a Crocodile wallet myself. I keep seeing them in different colors in both matte and glazed (shiny). Introducing my new Bottega Veneta Crocodile Wallet. I am glad that I resisted the usual classic black or dark brown offerings, because this season Bottega Veneta has created the most sumptuous neutral in Mineral. It is a toasted almond shade between beige and taupe. I adore matte crocodile, especially from Bottega Veneta, but somehow this glazed skin had more appeal. Each scale has a subtle chocolate brown outline from the Fume tanning process.
Every piece of leather is unique, but when it comes to Crocodile and Alligator, those differences are even more pronounced. I would never recommend the purchase of any item in an exotic skin without seeing the piece in real life. Every scale is different and the way the skin is cut can influence the final outcome tremendously. Defects are also common, so always examine closely. I prefer to see a great deal of variation in the size and shape of the scales as well. Remember, the key to beautiful Alligator and Crocodile pieces is symmetry.
