Uniqlo +J: On Sale
I thought I had thoroughly exhausted the Fall/Winter +J collection at Uniqlo, but when the stretch cashmere sweaters went on sale, I couldn't resist. Classic black crew neck, originally $129.50, now $89.50 USD.
I also bought a Purple Extra Fine Merino wool v-neck sweater for only $19.99 (originally $39.50 USD).

Louis Vuitton Damier Graphite Adjustable Organizer

My friend Christopher recently acquired this Louis Vuitton wallet and I am so impressed with the clever new design. In handsome Damier Graphite, it may seem a tad on the large size, but it is the perfect wallet to keep in your bag, with three removable pieces inside, so that you can take only what you need in your pocket. Perfect for credit cards, business cards, receipts, cash, change and keys. It even fits his iPhone.
Available here. $550 USD.

Marc Jacobs' Hermès Shadow Birkin
In the latest neutral shade of Alezan Swift calfskin, Marc Jacobs is still in St. Barths, once again doing the Birkin Beach Bag thing. This bag dubbed the Shadow Cabas is a tongue in cheek version of the classic Birkin 40. Perhaps that was what he was buying in the local Hermès?

Dries Van Notenfest Continued
I know I just posted this shirt in Sky Blue yesterday, but I actually bought it in Midnight Blue a few weeks ago before the final markdown. What can I say? I love Dries Van Noten and this shirt is beautiful in both colors.

Dries Van Notenfest at Barneys NY
The final markdown of 60% at Barneys NY was enticing enough to pick up a few last pieces of Dries Van Noten this season. The two button down shirts are beautiful and lightweight, so they are my first Pre-Spring purchases. One in a Sky Blue cotton floral damask and the other in a Navy and White cotton pinstripe. The Black t-shirt with the "polaroid" print of what appears to be a Fall/Winter 2009 Dries Van Noten runway look was too cute to resist--also perfect for Spring/Summer. The knit cap is a little gift for Eric.

Marc Jacobs Shopping Hermès
Thanks to justjared.com: Marc Jacobs spotted exiting the Hermès boutique in St. Barth's on Christmas Eve with the very same Vert Olive/Veronese 40 Birkin, with a suspiciously large Orange Box accompanying him, perhaps the Birkin is new and he is just lugging the big box home. Looking good Marc.
Update: Marc's bag is a 40 Birkin Vert Veronese Togo with Palladium hardware.

Marc Jacobs in St. Barth's

Thanks to dlisted for these fab pics of Marc Jacobs and beau Lorenzo Martone on what appears to be Saline Beach in St. Barth's. Also, if I am not mistaken, that is a new 40cm Hermès Birkin in Vert Veronese or Vert Olive Clemence with Palladium hardware. Birkin as Beach Bag. I love it.
Update: Marc's bag: 40 Birkin Vert Veronese Togo with Palladium hardware.

Esclavo y Amo at New Museum

I stumbled upon this unique necklace while I was visiting the New Museum's website.
"Designed by Daniel Guzman and fabricated by Gabriel Urist, this 22K gold plated silver necklace is made exclusively for the New Museum. The necklace is custom made with handcast letters and is available in 18 or 22 inches.
“Esclavo y Amo (master and slave)” is an exclusive limited edition of 50. The piece was inspired by a popular Mariachi song, sung by Javier Solis, and is celebrated by many that are either sick or drunk with love, including Mr. Guzman."
Available here. Special Price $200, originally $500 USD.

Holiday Shoppers More Welcome Than Ever
Eric Wilson of The New York Times brings us the new reality on Luxury shopping in the recession. Customer service and attitudes are improving from Macy's to Bergdorf Goodman to Hermès. Despite the fact that I was interviewed for this piece and did not make the final cut, it is a must read.

Prada Marfa
In 2005, Berlin based artists Elmgreen & Dragset unveiled Prada Marfa, a 15' x 25' sculptural doppelganger of a Prada boutique near Marfa, Texas, complete with lighting and merchandise, but sealed shut: a time capsule of Luxury retail.
The painted sign referencing the location of the sculpture is featured prominently in the Van der Woodsen/Bass apartment on Gossip Girl and the Works On Whatever edition of that sign currently resides in our bedroom.
Elmgreen & Dragset:
“As one drives toward the artwork it will appear to be a large minimalist sculpture, as one gets closer it will look like a luxury boutique where a display of Fall 2005 high-heel Prada shoes and bags will be seen through the store front windows… blends into the exciting historical structures of the area in which it will be placed… As we purposefully will not preserve Prada Marfa, it will eventually become a ruin so that even in a future decayed state it will remain relevant to the time in which it was made…”

Hermès Etrivière Bracelet
My friend Christopher was visiting a few weeks ago and bought one of these at Madison Avenue. I grew to like the design more and more and hoped to find one for myself one day. Well, clever Christopher spotted this one on the bay and I couldn't resist. Presenting my Hermès Etrivière GM bracelet in Black. Thanks Christopher.
