Tomas Maier is always most comfortable working in the sophisticated somber palate for which he is known. Indigo, Black, Charcoal, Aubergine and Dark Brown are ever present in his collections and have become the signature of the Bottega Veneta brand.
For Fall/Winter 2010 he takes us on a Post World War II era Rockabilly jaunt complete with Teddy Boys, Pompadours and Jellyroll hair styles. The show opens with military fatigue deluxe, segues to fitted jackets with drainpipe pants and finally an outfit worthy of Jerry Lee Lewis. Mr. Maier steers clear of retro redux with precision tailoring, ultra luxe fabrics and refined proportions. The shoes emphasize the mood with combat boots and chunky creepers, even a pair in precious crocodile. Who says white socks aren't cool?
